From recruitment to retirement, mitigating work-related injury risk and costly workcover claims starts with a Job Task Analysis & Job Dictionary (also known as a Duties Register).
While most organisations have Position Descriptions for each role, often, the specific inherent physical requirements of those roles are either unknown, or if known, are not objectively documented in an accurate manner. This impacts all facets of Human Resource Management, from recruitment, through to retirement. Employers risk recruiting candidates who do not have the capacity to meet the specific inherent physical requirements of the position for which they have applied, increasing injury risk if employed. In the event that an injury is sustained, protracted rehabilitation and RTW can eventuate as treating Medical Practitioners attempt to guide recovery with an often limited understanding of the inherent requirements of the injured worker's position.
A Job Task Analysis & Job Dictionary, developed by Movevolution, can assist your organisation to:
1. Fast track injured worker recovery and RTW via a streamlined, efficient process, minimising workcover claim costs and insurance premiums.
2. Recruit the right staff - those who have a demonstrated capacity to meet the specific inherent physical requirements of the job.
3. Minimise the likelihood of lost-time injury (LTI) in cases where they are not medically indicated.
4. Develop evidence based, strategic injury prevention initiatives, tailored to address identified risks.

A Job Task Analysis is an in-depth examination and breakdown of the inherent requirements of key tasks that make up a specific job. Performed by an experienced, accredited Physiotherapist or Ergonomist, each analysis identifies (among other factors) critical physical (postural and manual handling) demands including the specific weights of objects handled.
Each individual Job Task Analysis can then be used to develop a comprehensive resource known as a Job Dictionary (also known as a Duties Register). This is a critical resource which profiles each task that is completed when performing a specific job/role. Additional objective data, including an overall physical demand classification for each task and position, is assigned and documented. Opportunities for injury risk mitigation are identified.
'Leveraging data and insights from the Job Dictionary, tailored, task-specific Injury Prevention strategies can be developed in a process of continuous Work Health & Safety performance improvement, driving a shift from costly, reactive injury management, to cost-effective, proactive, injury prevention'.
